Pruning is well underway at Beaulieu Vineyard and I'm sure across most English Vineyards. Roger, Jeremy and myself have managed to complete about 40% of the vineyard so far. We have finished the Bacchus, a particularly aromatic white variety and are pleased with the results of the pruning. We've moved onto the Reichensteiner and Huxelrebe. Both these white varieties are older plantings and very contorted, so some drastic action has been needed. This will inevitably lead to a reduced yield in 2009 but an improved situation from then onward.

We're all back there tomorrow, and I shall be armed with a camera, so more pictures to come. Our first goal is simple, to have the vineyard pruned completely by the end of Jan! There, it's in print, a definite target.
